Theaterloge (Theatre Box), Otto Gleichmann, 1922
In the early 1920s Gleichmann created a number of nervously drawn works on the theme of city nightlife. Here one looks down into a theatre box bursting with people. With their oddly misshapen heads the theatregoers appear quite monstrous. Gleichmann regarded the mondaine theatre world as one of pure show, for which there was no longer a place after the horrors of the First World War.
