Tanzendes Paar, Christian Rohlfs, c. 1913
linocut, More details
The German artist Christian Rohlfs only produced his first prints at the age of sixty. Before then, he had been active as a painter in various styles. People dancing, as they are in Tanzendes Paar, is a recurring theme in his oeuvre. Perhaps he longed for the freedom of movement he was deprived of after an infection caused his leg to be amputated.
