A very warm welcome to you as always, now with some new ways of doing things. There will be fewer people in the museum at any one time, for example, and extra attention for hygiene. All visitors also have to book a start time. We hope you have a lovely time at the Rijksmuseum!

Two main routes
We have set out two main routes that will show you ‘the best of the Rijksmuseum’.
The Highlights route 1 (orange) will lead you through the Gallery of Honour and the Night Watch Gallery to the galleries of the late 17th century, the 19th-century and the Middle Ages. Taking this route, you will see the model ship William Rex, the doll houses, and paintings by Gerard Dou, Jan Steen and Berkheyde, as well as Van Gogh, Breitner and Jan van Scorel.
The Highlights route 2 (green) will lead you through the Gallery of Honour and the Night Watch Gallery to the galleries of the early 17th century, the 18th century and Special Collections. Take this route and you will see Hugo de Groot’s book chest, paintings by Avercamp, Rembrandt and Frans Hals, as well as work by Cornelis Troost, a jewellery collection, weapons and model ships.
The routes are clearly signposted in the museum. You are also welcome to choose your own route, of course, but please be sure to follow the arrows indicating the one-way routes.
Tours and activities
Guided tours or group activities are taking place in the museum at this time. If you are coming with children you can still book the free Family Game, or else pick up a family guide from the information desk so you can discover the museum together.
Multimedia tour
The multimedia tour devices are available as usual; we will disinfect them prior to each use. Please book your multimedia tour along with your ticket and pick it up from the multimedia tour desk. The multimedia tour devices provide background information about the main routes and many of the artworks. The Rijksmuseum App offers identical information; just make sure you’ve got the latest version, and bring along your own headphones/earphones!
The museum shop, cloakroom, toilets, lockers and gardens all open. The Café and RIJKS restaurant are closed.
