Welcome back to the Rijksmuseum! A very warm welcome to you as always, now with some new ways of doing things.
Measures for a safe visit
The Dutch government and National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) have introduced guidelines in connection with the coronavirus (see below). The Rijksmuseum operates in accordance with these guidelines and asks visitors booking a visit to the museum to agree to them.
Guidelines on health issues
Access to the museum will be denied with the following symptoms:
- If you’ve got cold-like symptoms such as nasal congestion, a runny nose, sore throat, light cough and/or fever (up to 38°C), stay home!
- If you have cold-like symptoms and a fever higher than 38°C, possibly accompanied by shortness of breath, both you and your housemates should stay at home.
Guidelines on hygiene

- Wash your hands for 20 seconds using soap and water. Dry them thoroughly using a paper towel or blow dryer. Dispose of used paper towels in a sealable bin.

- Blow your nose using a paper tissue and dispose of the tissue in a sealable bin.
- After blowing your nose, wash your hands.
- Do not shake hands with other people.
- Maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people.
Please avoid using public transport whenever possible, and use your own transport to travel to and from the museum.
