inscription: ‘De hogepriseter wijd de 3 klyne schoteltjes met een takje met water uyt een houte bakje, terwyl zy tesamen met elkanderen zingen en op haare instrumenten slaan. dat duur ½ uur, daarna worden de papiere huisje verbrand, het eeten bleyft staan.’
inscription: ‘alle de paapen hadden, zodanige schild en op haare kleederen geborduurd met goud en zwarte zijde even als of het ... waaren’

Description

Kleurtekening van een aantal Chineese hogepriesters in een pagode buiten Batavia tijdens het Tsingbing festival. Daarboven nog een portret van één van de hogepriesters en onder uitgelicht de versiering op de kleding van de Chinezen. Met opschrift. Onderdeel uit het schetsboek van Jan Brandes, dl. 2 (1808), p. 9.
