inscription: ‘Deeze NoordCaper gezien eeven als wy de tropicus Capricorni gepasseerd waaren, na gissing oover 40 voet lang, hy sloeg met zyn Vin op het waater in het wenden, en kwam alle 100 tellens booven en spoog waater uit, zyn staart lag vlak, en niet als de meeste visschen opstaande.’
inscription: ‘nog een naast het schip kort aan myn galdery venster gezien den 7 november aan de andere zyde van de kaap en keerde zig geheel op de kant op de rug om, den 25 Nov: zien er 2 groote steeken de staart in de hoogte. den 26 zag ik er een op een 200 schreeden met de kop regt op uijt het water. den 2 december zag ik er wel 5 of 6 waarvan een een witte kroon waarschynlyk schelpen op de neus had speelende met elkander.’
