ThiemeMeulenhoff and the Rijksmuseum signed a cooperation on 7 July 2014. The museum’s collection will be a part of existing and new learning tools.
ThiemeMeulenhoff – Partner in education
ThiemeMeulenhoff, one of the biggest suppliers in learning tools for the Dutch educational market, and the Rijksmuseum joined forces. Treasures of the museum will be a part of the teaching methods in history, art and philosophy classes. The collection of the Rijksmuseum will become, thanks to this cooperation, even more present inside the classroom.
A new learning solution for primary and secondary schools in which informal and formal learning about art and culture go hand in hand, will also be developed. This learning solution will be presented during the Nationale Onderwijs Tentoonstelling in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht of January 2017.
Wim Pijbes, general director Rijksmuseum: “The door of the museum is on the schoolyard. For us, ThiemeMeulenhoff is an ideal partner to connect every child in the Netherlands with art and history”
“The Rijksmuseum plays a big part in informal learning”
Eric Razenberg, managing director of ThiemeMeulenhoff: “We are becoming more aware that children learn in many different ways. Some learn by reading, others learn by watching, listening, experiencing or by doing. All these different children and their different ways of learning call for a variety of learning possibilities and learning situations, sometimes outside of the school and the common learning methods. The Rijksmuseum plays a big part in informal learning”.
