Create your own route

Who knows best what you want to see in the museum? You of course! That is why we have made it even easier for you to create your own route with the app.

Under the For you button in the app you will now find the Make your own route option. This allows you to easily select which works you want to see in the museum. Do you prefer Vermeer, furniture or do you want to see works with cats? Just scroll through the categories and click on the work that you want to see. The app then gives you an ideal route and guides you from artwork to artwork. It is as simple as that!

Route selection aid

Don't feel like choosing all the individual works you want to see? We've got you covered with the new selection aid for routes made by other visitors. With a couple of questions, we find an ideal route that suits your interests. Fancy Love? Then follow the route Valentijn van C van der Harten. Or do you want to get a breath of fresh air? The decision aid will take you to the route Sea made by Harry.

Multimedia tours

Want to know more about Rembrandt, the Highlights of the Rijksmuseum or it's incredible building? Try out our multimedia tours and dive into the stories from the Rijksmuseum. Learn more and see more through interviews with experts and artists. The navigation system’s directions will lead you from room to room around an interactive floor plan.

Search by number, artwork, artist or keyword

If you are walking through the museum without following a specific tour or route you can still easily get more information about a specific object through the app. Just type in the number next to the object in our app under Search and discover more about the object.

You can also search in the app by the name of an artwork, artist or keyword. For example, you can easily find the works of the Haagsche School, the work of Mondrian or The Jewish Bride. The app then gives you more information about the work and leads you to its location in the museum.

You can choose to take the tours in the museum using a headset (€5), or install the app on your tablet or smartphone and download them for free.

Experience the collection at home

Before or after your visit, you can experience your favourite artworks in our collection from the comfort of your own home, thanks to the Rijksstudio. Scroll and swipe through the artworks, and zoom in to see even the smallest details. You can even save the images easily in your own personal Rijksstudio collection.

Tickets

The Rijksmuseum app makes it easy to book your tickets and save them on your smartphone so our staff can scan them when you get to the museum.
