The state visit of Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain to the Netherlands, Ed van der Elsken (attributed to), c. 1958
During Queen Elizabeth’s state visit, the Ridderzaal (Knights’ Hall) was filled with guests. Van der Elsken took various wide shots of the crowd. On this contact sheet we see the entire negative at the upper left. He used only part of it in the 1959 retrospective exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Schiedam. For the book feest (feast) he separated Minister of State Gerbrandy (with moustache) and an unknown woman and paired Gerbrandy with his colleague Beel.
