Description

Aquamanile van koperlegering, in de vorm van een leeuw met op zijn rug vrouwenfiguur. Het in cire perdue-techniek gegoten en vervolgens bijgeciseleerde voorwerp, waarvan details zijn uitgestoken, gegraveerd en geponst, heeft de vorm van een leeuw, die zijn kop schuin naar rechts heeft gewend en de staart om zijn rechter achterpoot heeft geslagen. Op zijn rug een gaffelvormige boom met vier uitstekende bladeren. Op twee van die bladeren is een gekroonde vrouwenfiguur geklonken. Zij is gekleed in een lang gewaad en draagt een juweel op de borst. Haar rechterhand houdt zij op de buik, met haar linker opzij gestrekte hand heeft zij oorspronkelijk iets vastgehouden. De leeuw heeft een grijnzende kop omgeven door een ringbaard en met afstaande oren, waarvan er één als tuit dienst doet. Op de kop bevinden zich drie uitsteeksels en daartussen een door een scharnier bevestigde klep, die met rococo-ornament is versierd. De klep dekt het gat af, waardoor het als kan dienst doende voorwerp met water kon worden gevuld. Kop, hals en borst zijn voorzien van stevige lokken. Een gekarteld en gearceerd kielprofiel loopt van borst naar achterpoten. Het gat op de borst tussen de lokken is na verwijdering van de gietkern dichtgemaakt. De geklonken gaffelpunten zitten iets los, de rechter is niet origineel. Eén van de nagels, waarmee de vrouw op de gaffelboom is geklonken, is van ijzer. De klep op de kop van de leeuw dateert uit het midden van de achttiende eeuw. Het scharnier is hersteld met een stuk van rood koper. De loodvullingen in ogen en tuitoor zijn in 1982 verwijderd.
