I combined this mantel clock with objects that are in storage. This room used to be where Café De Jaren is now.
The 4th wall of the room that used to be in Café De Jaren. The Amsterdam Museum has both the pier glass and the pier table in storage. For the windows I used photos from before 1900. The view is, of course, the famous view from the café and its terrace.
I found out what this wallpaper painting must have looked like originally, before 1900: surrounded by pink and gilded panelling, flanked by two doors with painted panels above. I tried to recreate the complete image that was last seen 115 years ago!
