Model of a cathead with anchor release gear.
The cathead has two sheaves in the head, three thumb cleats on one side and a tripping gear on the other, consisting of a pair of jaws and a lever for releasing.
Although only one model of W. van Houten’s anchor release is mentioned in the archives,1 a similar cathead with anchor release gear by Van Houten was installed on the model of the East Indiaman Vergelijking (NG-MC-658).
