Solid rod of iron covered with copper, which has been turned down in a number of places to show the consistency of the galvanised layer.
The sample was acquired by the Navy from Toulon. In 1867 Mr Bernabé from Lyon obtained a Dutch patent for galvanising iron and steel with copper.
