Wooden construction model of a careening wharf, showing its pile foundations.
The model is built in a trapezoidal box, of which the short front represents the harbour wall. In three trenches just behind the wall the pulley blocks for careening can be attached. At the rear seven capstans with bitts are erected.
The model was bought by the Department of the Navy, together with model numbers NG-MC-1087 and NG-MC-1090, from the collection of J. Schouten in Dordrecht in 1861. No other historical details about this model are known. The scale is in Amsterdam feet.
