23 and 24 November, from 10:00 to 17:00.
The 2019 Big Draw Festival
The big inspiration for this year’s Big Draw Festival is Rembrandt. Join the drawing tours and workshops to get all the tips and tricks you need to become as good as the master himself. Admission to the museum is always free if you’re 18 or under, but for this weekend only adults don’t have to pay either – as long as you bring along a portrait drawn by you! It can be a self-portrait, but feel free to draw whoever you want: your partner, mother, best friend, whoever.
Activities:
Life drawing
Models Marten & Oopjen will be present so you can immortalise them on paper – just like Rembrandt did in 1634.
- 9:00 to 17:00
- Atrium
Drawing from memory
After spending a few minutes with a teacher examining an object, you’ll turn around and draw it from memory.
- Sessions start at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00.
- Asian Pavilion
Rembrandt drawing lesson
Train yourself to see like Rembrandt! Draw a still life of a shell. Make a landscape from memory. Try to sketch an animal in just one minute. And… have you ever taken a good look at your own hands?
- 10:00-16:00
- Picnic Room
Rembrandt on the move
Rembrandt would often roam the streets of Amsterdam, observing the people around him – the musicians, the merchants, the vagrants. Can you capture movement in a drawing the way Rembrandt did?
- 10:00 to 16:00
- Great Hall
Drawing tours
Join a tour guided by an art teacher, and get drawing tips inspired by famous artworks. The theme of the tour is – of course – Rembrandt!
- Tours start at 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00
- Information Desk
- Age 10 and up| we advise you to reserve in advance
