Art from the kitchen

Ground-breaking tour of the portrayal of eating and drinking.

foto Still Life with Cheese, Floris Claesz. van Dijck, c. 1615What we eat and drink has been a favourite subject in art for centuries. Just think of the imposing still lifes in the Gallery of Honour, or Instagram photos of today's trendy food. What we eat says something about who we are, as well as where we live. This tour is a culinary journey through time.

A veritable culinary revolution took place in the Netherlands in the 17th and 18th centuries. New ingredients such as lemons, cloves and tea opened up new horizons. This tour offers a look behind the scenes. Foodies, take note!
