Prepare for thyour museum visit – together! Get the kids involved in deciding what you want to see. Check out these artworks at Rijksstudio and choose your favourites.
At weekends make sure you visit the Picnic Room, where there are free Rembrandt drawing lessons and free paint demonstrations from 11:00 to 16:00!
There are more than 8,000 artworks and other objects on display at the Rijksmuseum. So don’t try and do too much in just one visit. You could focus on just one floor of the museum, or one century, for example. Your visit will be even more fun with these family guides.
Why not play a game with questions about a painting, for example? Think of a painting and get your family to work out which one it is by asking you several questions. Remember, you’re only allowed to answer yes or no to each question.
Visit the Rijksmuseum before 11:00 or after 15:00, when it’s quieter and you’re less likely to have to wait.
Let your children be your tour guides! You might be surprised where you end up. Everyone sees things differently, after all!
