Description

Blijde Inkomste van Frans hertog van Anjou (1556-1584) in Antwerpen, met de erepoort op de St. Jansbrug, 19 februari 1582. Olieverfschilderij van een kleurige stoet ruiters en voetvolk die voor het oog van de toeschouwer langs trekt naar een erepoort. De hertog berijdt een schimmel, draagt een scharlaken mantel en wordt beschut door een gedragen baldakijn. Aan weerszijden van de stoet staan soldaten van burgervendels voor het publiek. Een kapitein knielt voor de hertog. Rechts naast een huizenblok is de haven van Antwerpen zichtbaar. Rechts een stellage met brandende vaten.
