Description

Drieluik met de kruisiging. Op het middenpaneel Christus aan het kruis, met links Maria en rechts Johannes. Op de achtergrond een profiel van de stad Utrecht. Op de binnenzijde van het linker zijpaneel de mis van de heilige Gregorius, op de binnenzijde van de rechter zijpaneel de heilige Christophorus met het Christuskind op de schouders. Gesloten vertonen de zijpanelen een voorstelling van de verkondiging aan Maria in grisaille. Links de engel, rechts Maria, voorgesteld als beelden op voetstukken onder baldakijnen.

• St. Christopher, with the infant Christ on his shoulders, wading through the water and carrying his staff (palm-tree); sometimes a hermit stands on the further bank beside a chapel, a lantern in his hand
• the Annunciation: Mary, usually reading, is visited by the angel (sometimes a woman overhears the conversation)
