Fat buttocks and fleshy folds may well be typical features of Rubens’ beauty queens, but most women today by far favour the ideal of thinness. Despite the counter-movement introduced by Kim Kardashian, having a ‘fat ass’ is still not considered a compliment. Kooi sees this differently. She presents the female derrière together with a plump, stuffed sausage surrounded by rotund curves like jewels in satin-lined boxes.
