The message of this print series is that existence unfolds in a fixed order, and when complete the cycle begins anew. The personifications around the globe make this clear: Peace is at the top, followed at the left by Fortune, then Wealth, Pride, Envy, War, Poverty, and Piety. Notice that this is counter-clockwise: after all, the drawing is the mirror image of the print.
