Rocky Landscape with Trees, Paulus Willemsz. van Vianen, c. 1603
Paulus van Vianen’s many landscape drawings are usually recognisable by their delicate penwork. With a brush he added washes of brown or grey ink –and sometimes soft pink or blue-green – to create dream-like vistas. This drawing most likely comes from the same sketchbook as the other work by Van Vianen on display on this wall.
