This is one of the earliest preserved Dutch drawings of a posed nude female model. De Gheyn dazzles the viewer with his direct observation and spontaneous drawing style. Fine hatching suggests not only the shadows, but also reinforces the musculature and curvature of the body. De Gheyn enlivened the drawing in places with accents in pen and ink.
