Three Hovering Angels, Jacopo Palma (il Giovane), c. 1588 - c. 1589
This drawing features three studies of a hovering angel, the wings of which are depicted with just a few pen lines. The fact that in some places the hard contours have been softened with light brown washes emphasizes the effect of flying. This drawing may have served as a study for the angels Palma painted in his representation of the Last Judgment in the Doge's Palace in Venice.
