Explanatory note
Gordon's eerste neushoorn, geschoten bij de Gamka- (of Leeuwen)rivier op 2-11-1778; alle tekeningen zijn gebaseerd op dit exemplaar; in 1779 schoot Gordon er nog 13 (zie verso). Komt niet meer voor ten zuiden van de Oranjerivier en deze soort is nu uitgeroeid.
