Oosterwijk Castle plays a secondary role in this landscape. The emphasis lies entirely on the strong perspectival rendering of the road, verge, ditch, and pasture. The broadly brushed passages in wash contrast with the white areas, creating an exciting interplay of lines. Roghman must have made, or intended to make, yet another more detailed drawing of Oosterwijk Castle.
