Two dragonflies, an antlion and five smaller insects, Johannes Bronkhorst, c. 1685 - c. 1727
Johannes Bronckhorst must have had exceptional motor skills. He was able to record minute details, such as the gossamer-thin wings of the large dragonfly, with the steadiest of hands. To see such details at all, he must have used a magnifying glass. The dragonflies are an Asian species and probably came from a collector’s cabinet.
