etching, h 161mm × w 129mm More details

Here we witness recognizable human emotions. When Anna, Tobit’s wife, tells him that she sees their long-awaited son, Tobias, arriving, he jumps up excitedly to meet him. However, he is blind and, in his haste, bumps into the door. Rembrandt etched this episode twice, first around 1629 and again in 1651.
