Narcissus Aegidius Sadeler (II) (ca. 1570-1629), Aegidius Sadeler (II), after Bartholomeus Spranger, 1624 - c. 1650
Two nymphs watch Narcissus as he is about to lose himself. In the sky, Cupid draws his bow to shoot an arrow of love. The scene is full of movement, from the attentive dog to Narcissus’ billowing clothes. Bartholomeus Spranger and Aegidius Sadeler worked in the service of Emperor Rudolf II in Prague, where they collaborated intensively.
