Description

Centraal in een rechthoekig kader de Latijnse titel van het boek. Boven het kader de personificatie van Optica. Naast haar een pauw en een adelaar. Aan weerszijden van de titel de standbeelden van Mercurius en Minerva. Onderaan twee voorstellingen van een aap. In de linkervoorstelling is de aap dood omwille van een maansverduistering. In de rechtervoorstelling groet het beest de maan met zijn geblaf. Onderaan de prent meetkundige instrumenten.
