The ruler of the gods Zeus and his son Hermes visit earth. They seek hospitality in a thousand houses, but are turned away. They are finally welcomed in the humble abode of the elderly couple Philemon and Baucis. When the wrathful gods decide to destroy all of the creatures on earth with a great flood, they spare Philemon and Baucis.
