De engel Gabriël verschijnt aan Maria, terwijl zij zit te lezen aan een lezenaar in een hoog vertrek. Op de achtergrond God in de hemel; boven Maria's hoofd de Heilige Geest in de gedaante van een duif. Op versozijde gedrukte Latijnse tekst. Deze prent is onderdeel van een serie van 20 prenten, bestaand uit een titelprent en 19 prenten met scènes uit het leven van Maria.
