Ornament prints, such as this one, were used by artists and craftsmen as inspiration and models for decorations that they incorporated into their own creations. Printmaking thus played an important role in spreading both existing and new artistic formulas and ideas. Notice the foliage motifs in this print and the two adjacent ones and compare them with those in the border of the large tomb plate in the centre of this gallery.
