Allegorie op de Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie. Batavia houdt een vlag vast met het monogram van de VOC. Naast haar ligt de Hollandse leeuw. Afrikaanse en Oosterse mannen buigen voor haar en bieden haar cadeaus met koninklijke voorrechten aan. Links staat Mercurius, god van de handel, Vrijheid en een derde allegorische figuur. Aan de rechterzijde bekijkt een engeltje een kostbare stof. Op de achtergrond een gezicht op de stad Batavia, het middelpunt van de bezittingen van de Nederlanders. De prent illustreert de trots van de Nederlanders op hun koloniale gebieden.
