Magdalena de Passe set the story about the sculptor Pygmalion who fell in love with his own statue of a woman in the dark. Equally spectacular are the contrasts of light and dark in the scene in which the musician Orpheus persuades the god of the underworld to return his beloved Eurydice alive.
