St Anthony is besieged by devils while reading Scripture. His regular companion is a pig that, like the saint, carries a bell. A refined engraving served as the model for this woodcut. The rough execution and colouring lend the print a remarkable expressiveness. It is quite exceptional that the front cover of the book to which the print was affixed has been preserved.
