Turbulence, Constant, 1961
In these prints Constant experimented with the traditional technique of etching. The etching plates were sometimes perforated to create ‘holes’ in the prints. The scratched marks and the holes evoke associations with maps of constellations or imaginary countries. The prints date from the period when Constant was working out his vision of the city of the future – New Babylon – in prints, drawings, models, manifestos, and writings.
