Self-portrait, Hannes Postma, c. 1965 - c. 1970
In the 1960s, Dutch artist Postma produced several disorientating self-portraits. In this one he displayed his back. It is unclear whether the brightly coloured tracks of colour on his back are fragments of clothing, or whether they reflect what’s on the inside. In any case, the square on the back of his head looks like a thought bubble in a comic strip, giving a glimpse into what’s inside his head.
