Coeffure en Chapeau blanc, Dupin, after Pierre Thomas Le Clerc, 1781
While this print is actually all about the lady’s coiffure, her jewellery is just as interesting. Her plain gold earrings differ greatly from the large gemstone-set variations popular earlier in the 18th century. Hanging from the strand of pearls is a portrait medallion with either a likeness of a loved one or possibly a cameo from classical antiquity.
