Een schilderij met 'Het Gebed van Franciscus' doorboort Hogarths 'Morning', een kunstwerk met een biddende Magdalena doet dit met een schilderij uit de serie 'A Harlot's Progress' en de 'Aldobrandini bruiloft' doorklieft het tweede schilderij uit de serie 'Mariage à la Mode'. Een prent uit 'The Rake's Progress' steekt een gat in 'Feest van de goden' en 'Midnight Modern Conversation' doet ditzelfde bij 'De triomftocht van Bacchus' naar Rubens. Tientallen meesterwerken staan links achter elkaar opgesteld.
Deze prent is de toegangskaart voor een veiling bij Cock's veilinghuis in 1745. De negentien schilderijen door Hogarth die hier verkocht werden kwamen uit de series 'A Harlot's Progress', 'A Rake's Progress', 'The Four Times of Day' en 'Strolling Actresses Dressing in a Barn'. Deze prent verbeeldt Hogarths anticipatie op een lage opbrengst bij de veiling vanwege de voorkeur van de Britse koper. Dit bleek uiteindelijk ook te kloppen. In deze prent lijken Hogarths prenten inhoudelijk sterker dan de meesterwerken, maar deze winnen uiteindelijk in kwantiteit: links staan drie rijen 'oude meesters' paraat om de aanval voort te zetten. 'Dto' op de hoeken staat voor 'idem dito', duidend op gelijksoortige kunstwerken.
