Orfèvre Jouillier, Metteur en Oevre, Montures, unknown, in or before 1770 - 1780
A section of Diderot and d’Alembert’s famous Encyclopédie is devoted to the art of jewellery. This plate features various settings in a Rococo style as a source of inspiration for goldsmiths. The inscriptions describe the functions and the gemstones to be used. At the top we see various functions for a single setting: Figure three for a ring, and Figure five as an earring.
