The Rinpa School features stylized landscapes and motifs, with blocks of colour and in this instance without outlines. This style dates to the 17th century and was revived in a new form in the early 20th century. Sekka breathed new life into the movement. His designs profoundly influenced ceramics and lacquer in the 1900s to 1920s, especially in Kyoto.
