Explanatory note

De serie Los Disparates is pas na de dood van Goya uitgegeven. De Real Academia des Nobles Artes heeft de serie gepubliceerd onder de naam Los Proverbios. Harris heeft in zijn catalogus aan elke prent een Spaans spreekwoord toegekend. Deze prent verbeeldt volgens hem het spreekwoord: Sin recomendarse a dios ni al diablo (zonder zichzelf aan te bevelen bij God of de duivel). Pérez Sanchéz en Gallego zijn hier niet van overtuigd.
