Explanatory note

De serie Los Disparates is pas na de dood van Goya uitgegeven. De Real Academia des Nobles Artes heeft de serie gepubliceerd onder de naam Los Proverbios. Harris heeft in zijn catalogus aan elke prent een Spaans spreekwoord toegekend. Deze prent verbeeldt volgens hem het spreekwoord: Alegrias antruejo, que mañana seras ceniza (viert carnaval, want morgen zul je as zijn). Volgens Pérez Sanchéz en Gallego is dit niet juist. K.Botke
