Stalk with Six Carnations, anonymous, 1688 - 1698
The colour printing process developed by Johannes Teyler found little following, but his prints were tremendously popular at the end of the 17th century. They were cut out and used as decoration, whereby many were ultimately destroyed. Most of the prints that have been preserved were kept in albums. In this impression the colours red and black are printed and the pink and green were applied by hand.
