View of Lommerlust Manor in Beverwijk, Caspar Jacobsz. Philips, 1752 - 1789
After a brief exchange of letters, Wolff and Deken meet in Amsterdam in 1776. A special relationship soon develops and they are inseparable from that moment on. When Wolff’s husband dies, Deken moves in with her. In 1782 Deken buys a country house in Beverwijk and calls it ‘Lommerlust’ (Verdant Delight), where, between 1782 and 1788, they spend the summer.
