This propaganda booklet was used to advertise the Colonial School for Girls and Women. According to the school board, it was important for young women to understand ‘how to be a helper and counsellor for her servants and the natives in general around her.’ The Colonial School held the belief that European women were above the Indonesians and the bearers of ‘civilization.’
