DOPE IN EXPOSITION FIREWORKS PLOT, CHARGE
SAN FRANCISCO---A bizarre story of seeking a concession at the Golden Gate International Exposition here for sale of fireworks and oriental candies---some of which would be shipped in laden with opium--was charged to Chung Lei, one-time Chinese bank president. Graduate of New York University and later a Canton bank head. Chung was ruined by the present Sino-Chinese war. A woman associate was arrested when a quantity of opium was found hidden in a false trunk bottem when she arrived by steamer. Search for Chung resulted in his indictment by a federal grand jury.
