The poster mania that blew over from the United States at the end of the 1960s afforded Dutch celebrities a new way of marketing themselves. On commission for the ‘poster king’ Verkerke, photographer Eddy Posthuma de Boer portrayed the controversial writer Gerard Reve in his house in Greonterp, surrounded by attributes that refer to the often explicit homo-eroticism or blasphemous passages in his literature.
