William Klein proudly announced that the fashion photographs that he took for Vogue as of 1955 were among the least popular ever to appear in that magazine. This remark typifies his rebellious stance. Klein’s use of blurring and motion gave fashion photography a new stimulus. In this photograph a telephoto lens served to ‘press’ together the foreground and background.
